“I am really just beginning my career as an artist - having left my corporate job (June 2004) as a VP of a marketing services company based in London and began working on art in January 2005. I began by exhibiting in local establishments (coffee shops, restaurants, hair salons) and then working with interior designers through furniture stores in Los Angeles & Denver. Since then, I have worked with corporate art dealers, garnering commissions in Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York & Washington, DC. In the past year I have participated in a number of group shows in Denver and obtained my first gallery representation.
In the Burn Series, I explore geometries, languages, architecture, organics and the randomness of nature through a simple process of burning the images in my mind onto paper. The original concept of the Burn Tiles was to configure as many images as possible; typically groups of 3, 5, 10 or 20 are popular with viewers. When viewers look at 3 or 5 tiles together, it seems important to have a cohesive theme or, at least, a connectedness among the tiles. When the grouping grows to 10 or 20+ tiles, it really does not seem to matter which tiles are put together. As the series evolves, I am now experimenting with varying the dimensions (think large) and with adding color, adding endless possibilities to creative direction for the work.”
