Richard Amt

Richard Amt is the former Chief of Photographic Services at the National Gallery of Art, where he spent the last 20 years of his career. He has been active in photography since high school and worked on high school and college newspapers and yearbooks. He served for 4 years in the Air Force as an aerial photographer, and was the staff photographer at Dumbarton Oaks in Georgetown for 11 years before going to the National Gallery.

Since his retirement in southern Pennsylvania he has been active in photography, winning several awards in local and juried exhibitions. His favorite subjects are found in nature and his preferred medium is black & white photography. His photographs are silver-gelatin prints, not often found in recent times.
